A meaningful escape from workplace! Hongkong Storage colleagues were released from their workplace in a Friday afternoon for giving our helping hands to the Hot Meal service – a volunteer service launched by the People’s Food Bank of St. James’ Settlement!
The Hot Meal Service was launched by the People’s Food since 2013. Their central kitchen, located in Kwun Tong, provides nutritious meal boxes for deprived people in Kowloon East & West.
The Caring Group of Hongkong Storage has arranged staff in three batches to participate in the beneficent volunteer service held at the central kitchen in Kwun Tong.
Before the service, our colleagues were briefed about the centre’s background. Then it was time for our volunteer service in the big kitchen! Each colleague was assigned to different service points: preparing food, assisting in packing and delivering meal boxes. With our help, all the meal boxes were quickly packed and ready to dispatch!
It was so encouraging and meaningful for us to help deliver the hot and great meal boxes to the elderly and the low-income families. We were not just delivered a nutritious meal but also our sincerity.
“Be empathetic to others, and bearing in mind always our corporate social responsibility” is always at the heart of Hongkong Storage’s corporate values. We’d like to thank St. James’ Settlement and our Caring Group for bringing this meaningful experience to our colleagues.
